2006 Indexes for French Limousin Sires

The 2006 French Limousin Sire Summary includes many of the French sires with semen available in Australia.

Figures available for each sire include EBVs and indexes based on these EBVs. The breed average for each EBV is zero. The indexes are expressed in relation to a base of 100 (20 index points correspond to one phenotypic standard deviation).

Calving Ease
The calving ease index is calculated directly from the birth weight EBV. Birth weight EBVs above zero have a calving ease index of below 100 and vice versa. High indexes are favourable.

Weaning Weight
A weaning weight EBV of above zero is above breed average and has an index of greater than 100.

Milk
The milk EBV and index indicate the milking ability of the daughters of the sire. High indexes are favourable.

Muscular Development (Muscularity)
The EBV and index for muscular development indicates the level of muscularity in the progeny of the sire.

Skeletal Development
The EBV and index for skeletal development indicates the overall skeletal development of the progeny of the sire.
