It is perhaps timely, some 30 years after the introduction of Limousin into Australia that females with direct lineage to the French Herd Book, are introduced for the interest and research of Limousin breeders in Australia and elsewhere.

Because of strict quarantine protocols, Australia was unable to import live females from France until the late nineteen eighties. French pure bloodlines were however sourced and imported initially in the early nineteen seventies, either live or by frozen embryo from New Zealand. New Zealand at that time being able to import live, this was Australia’s only source of supply.

The late nineteen eighties saw quarantine protocols changed considerably enabling Australia to source bloodlines from not only New Zealand, but France, Canada, USA, Denmark and New Caledonia. Many of our breeders took advantage of this opportunity.

It is with pleasure these French pure live imports and donor dams are introduced by the Australian Limousin Breeders’ Society.
