This novel is the second of two (the first being Sooner or Later). It is centred around Michel Khamis, a young Australian/Lebanese boy whose music promoter mother has given him the job of minding the office during the holidays. Into his life comes Geraldine Ahearn, a beautiful Aboriginal girl who dreams of becoming an opera star. Michel agrees to try and get his mother to help Geraldine--but falls deeply in love. A novel set in culturally diverse Australia, this is a story of first love, of music, of pain and of joy.
