Limousin cross steers dominated the 2003 Quirindi Prime Stock Exhibition this week.

 

The Junior and Grand Champion Carcase was a Limousin X Murray Grey exhibited by Coonabarabran High School with 93 points.  This steer also won the Junior heavyweight carcase class.

 

In the open section the Champion was a Limousin X Angus exhibited by Brisbane Waters Secondary College Umina Campus, with 90.5 points.  This carcase also won the open lightweight carcase class.

 

Peter McGilchrist from the well-known McGilchrist family of Quirindi took out first place in the open heavyweight carcase class with a Limousin X Angus.

 

Other carcase placings were second in the Junior lightweight carcase to St Mary’s College from Gunnedah, and second in the open lightweight class to Emily Saul.

 

In the open heavyweight class the third placed carcase was a Hereford X Limousin exhibited by Shelly Piper.

 

In the hoof judging under Jamie Laurie of Gloucestor, Limousin cross did not fare so well.  The best of the hoof results was first place to a Limousin X Angus steer exhibited by Brisbane Waters Secondary College Umina Campus in the open heavyweight class.

 

Other placings included a second to Peter Curming of Armidale with a Limousin X SG/Shorthorn in the junior heavyweight class, and second to DSK Angus with an Angus X Limousin in the open lightweight steer class.

 

Three third places went to Emily Saul with a Limousin X in class 4, Brisbane Waters Secondary College Umina Campus in class 5, and Don and Sarah Riley in class 6 with a Limousin X.
